A few words about myself
I come from Jablonec nad Nisou, a small town in the Northern Bohemia. A town where I have grown up and went to a local Grammar School (Gymnasium). But currently I live in Prague - first because of my studies, now because of my work for the Czech Pirate Party.
I am a constitutional lawyer specialising in the comparative constitutional law, parliamentarism and also in the the international security policies. I have studied at the Charles University and at the University College Dublin (one-year Erasmus+ study stay). UCD Sutherland School of Law where I have studied belongs between the best 50 Law Schools in the world. I have attended PhD programme "European Law and Governance" in Dublin. During my studies I have undertaken several internships in the field of the constitutional law and the EU law, e.g. in the Chamber of Deputies or Ministry of Finance.
I do not only lead theoretical discussion of law, quite contrary. I am trying my best to use it to improve life in the Czech Republic. For example, currently I am suing the Office of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to make public all the information about financing of the Parliamentary Party Groups (PPG). I have also written a book about the functioning of the PPGs (Secrets of the Cabinet Politics: Parliamentary Party Groups in the Constitutional System of the Czech Republic) and I am trying to make the functioning of the Chamber of Deputies more open to public.
I have joined the Czech Pirate Party at the beginning of the 2018 and a few months after that I was already helping establishing a local branch of the Party in Jablonec. Among other my activities related to Pirates I participate on the actions of Pirate Party EU (I have co-wrote the panEuropean Pirate Manifesto), assist with establishing of the Pirate Institute (Pirate think-tank) and cooperate with the Foreign Department of the Party. I have decided to run in the European Elections 2019 as a Pirate candidate. I have finished 9th with almost 3500 preferential votes.
I have decided to join the Pirate cause because of the focus of the Party on promoting truly democratic and free society. I strongly believe we need to open the politics and the nameless and faceless state to the people, we need to truly fight the corruption and the red tape and not only talk about it. I believe in human rights and in the free citizen as a centrepiece of the political universum. I believe in a social state helping its citizens to live a whole life and not only work it through the living. And for me is the European integration one of the potential pillars of such a state and of a such society.
I am a member of the law society Všehrd and a Fellow Research in the Association on International Affairs. I am also cooperating with the Open society on several projects concerning the Freedom of information.
I speak fluently English, understand German and study Italian, French and, yes, Welsh. I love train travelling, baking and history. Thanks to my interest in history I have acquired my middle name Lev (Lion in translation) - after the great bohemian diplomat from 15th century, Jaroslav Lev of Rožmitál, who led a mission of King of Bohemia Jiří of Poděbrady with the goal of forming a panEuropean Coalition of states. Idea to which I proudly adhere to.
